Deschutes County deserves a new County Clerk

Voters deserve a County Clerk who welcomes oversight, answers questions, and runs elections every resident can trust. Add your name.

The petition

We, voters of Deschutes County, do not want Steve Dennison to continue as our County Clerk.

The county's own independent auditor has raised serious concerns about the Clerk's office:

  • In 2025, the auditor reported that the Clerk refused to discuss or provide information about the security of the county's vote-counting system, even though county code requires every county officer to give the auditor access. [2025 audit report, p. 7–9]
  • The 2024 audit found recording staff sharing one login and two software review settings turned off. The office fixed those during the audit, but nine months later 4 of its 13 recommendations, on a risk assessment and county purchasing rules, were still in process. [2024 audit]
  • In the May 2024 primary, some Deschutes County ballot packets were mailed in another county's envelopes. [KTVZ]

We'll make our voices heard on November 3, 2026.

If Steve Dennison is re-elected, Jon will start an official recall petition under Oregon law as soon as it's allowed. Oregon lets a recall be filed once an official has served six months of the new term, which would be about July 2027. Check the box below and we'll tell you the day the official petition opens, with the signature sheet you can print and sign. How Oregon recalls work

This petition shows public opinion. It is not an official recall petition. Oregon only counts recall signatures on approved, hand-signed sheets. It was started by Jonathan Curtis, candidate for Deschutes County Clerk. Your information goes only to his campaign and won't be sold or shared.
